How To Store A Lobster

Lobsters are considered a luxury especially when going to restaurants. This animal is very expensive when bought department stores and markets. Availability is only optional because there are some seasons where finding them will be scarce. Purchasing them is one thing, but storing them before cooking has to be done properly or else, they will die and you will lose the chance in cooking them. When it comes to Jumbo Live Lobster, individuals will have to know the basics in storing the animal to prevent it from dying.

Choose between hard and soft shells. Even though they are all red in appearance, there are still some elements that make them different in terms of species. People must learn the difference between the two. Soft shelled have a meat that is sweet wile hard ones have a hearty meat. This is vital especially when you are cooking it.

Fat content. Fat contents is not the only thing that will indicate a healthy and fresh lobster. Start it by holding while its still breathing. The claws must be pointing upwards and not slump to the sides. If it can move around, that means it has a good physical condition. Having a longer antenna will indicate its taste and vitality.

Choose between males and females. Male and female lobsters have different sizes, textures and taste. Each of their bodies have specific areas where a person can really taste the difference between the two. People that prefer the head and claws, they should choose males. For those that wanted to eat the tails, choosing a female one is much better because females have bigger and larger tails compared to males.

Check on them every few hours. Set the timer in exact time intervals, preferably five to six hours at a time. After the alarm goes off, remove the container and change the newspapers once again. It is important to change the newspapers and add more ice packs to ensure that they are still alive and the metabolism are still kept low.

Leave the bands on the claws. After buying it, do not remove the rubber bands not until you are planning to cook it. Taking it off will be harder for you to keep them in stored and put a risk in getting pinched by the claws. Letting the rubber bands stay while being cooked will not affect any taste.

Make sure that you will follow the right procedures when storing the lobsters. The animal is delicate and needs to be properly iced and contained to make sure it stays fresh and ready to cook. Do not leave them in a room temperature or it will be dead instantly.

Researching is the only way to determine where to purchase live lobsters and how to choose one. With many stores and markets that sells the animal, it is important to know where the best ones are purchased. Ensure that you know all the facts and information in regards in choosing a store.

Budgeting is essential. Buying lobsters are expensive. Even though this is such a treat, individuals will have to consider the price rates before buying it.
