Mung Bean Recipes And Why You Should Eat Them

As you travel around the world and read different cookbooks, you are bound to come across some foods, which you have never heard of. Some people may choose to try a mung bean recipes, or to just leave it alone, in fear of how the food will taste. Some people prefer to use them when they are peeled and split, and they will appear yellow. You can also buy dried beans, which may appear black or green.

Beans can sometimes be inconvenient to cook, especially if you are in a hurry. This is mainly because they might need to be soaked before boiling. With green grams, as mung beans are commonly called, soaking them is optional. For recipes where you need to add them before boiling, soak them for two hours, or even overnight.

These beans can be cooked in a curry, mixed with vegetables to make a salad, or even mixed with honey to make a desert. The way you choose to cook them, will depend on your mood at that particular moment. You can also choose to let them sprout, by letting them soak for a while in the dark.

If you want to serve them with rice or bread, like naan bread, they are best done in a curry. This will involve frying them alongside well-cooked onions, tomatoes, and a mixture of spices, some people may choose to add potatoes. Because the mung beans will be cooked, they will be added towards the end and let to simmer for a while in the soup. Coconut can also be added to the curry, to give it a softer milky flavor.

For people who are on a vegan diet, adding mung beans to their meals will provide them with a good source of protein. Although meat and dairy products still have more protein than most plants, the protein from legumes has the added advantage of having less saturated fats, and cholesterol. These beans also have protease inhibitors. These slow down the replication of most cancer cells, therefore slowing the growth of tumors.

Most people think that green leafy vegetables and grains like oats are the only sources of fiber. Consuming greens grams, provides the body with both soluble and insoluble fibers. The soluble fibers form a gel-like substance, which can help lower cholesterol, while the insoluble fibers are good for normal bowel movements.

People who suffer for liver problems and heart problems are also encouraged to start including these beans, in their meal plans. They are good for maintaining a good liver and a strong heart, with chemical substances like lecithin, which normalize liver functions.

Most people take a lot of concoctions in a bid to assist your body get rid of harmful toxins. Eating a few servings of these plants every week, will help your body to do this. You skin will also look better, as it will boost the production of collagen.
